Have you been flatbed scanners scanned lately?

Okay, so you find that you will be needing a scanner.  Perhaps you have some newspaper articles that need reducing and then printing onto good quality paper that won’t fade to yellow in a few years.  Perhaps you want to reduce the paperwork around your house.

Using the scanner for newspaper articles and receipts, it’s easy to set yourself up a paperless filing system, if you have a larger hard drive on your computer.  And with the scanner, you can usually save in either .jpg or PDF, the former for photos and the latter for documents.

The advantages of getting stand-alone flatbed scanners as opposed to an all-in-one, is that stand-alones can be very slender and space saving and can fit in almost anywhere, perhaps on top of an accessible filing cabinet or similar.  Also, it is cheaper to replace a scanner that could get damaged or need updating, with a stand-alone one rather than as part of an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier/fax machine.

Visit the Super Warehouse site to study and compare their vast selection of all types of scanners.  The price ranges from inexpensive to top-end, and you won’t be disappointed.  It’s available 24/7 online.   During its ten years in business, Super Warehouse has earned a number of awards acknowledging its immense growth and establishment in the industry. In 2007, Super Warehouse made the Inc. 5000 list ranking at number 916.

The company also jumped twenty six places in Internet Retailer’s “Top Five Hundred Retail Web Sites” 2007 list, to number 231. Super Warehouse also climbed four spots to number thirty two in the Computers/Electronics Category. In 2006, the San Diego Business Journal named Super Warehouse the eleventh fastest growing privately held company in San Diego, and included the Company again in the 2007 list.

While you are at the website, take a look at the fujitsu scanners.

One beautiful high-end one is the fujitsu fi-4860C sheet fed scanner with 400×400 dpi optical resolution, 8-bit grayscale, 500 sheet automatic document feeder capacity, and it connects via ultra wide SCSI, and is PC compatible.

A good value one is the fujitsu ScanSnap S500M sheet fed scanner for Mac, refurbished.  It has 600 dpi x 600 dpi resolution, 18 ppm (mono) / 18 ppm (color), 50 sheet automatic document feeder, and it connects via USB 2.0, and it’s Mac compatible.

If you can figure out what use you will get from a scanner, how much scanning you’ll be doing, and if you want to scan and then edit text into your computer (this requires an OCR or Optical Character Recognition program/function), then that will help you make an informed decision at the Super Warehouse website.

Just make sure you allow enough time for scanning all the great articles and interesting photos you come across! And be sure and start a scrapbook to keep them in.
